12 GUARDIAN MEDIA LIMITED AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES ANNUAL REPORT 2022In 2022, Guardian Neediest Cases Fund continued with its effort to assist needy families throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Although still a challenging year, the fund, which started in 1934 was successful in assisting five hundred and twenty-seven (527) families, with grants for medical and financial purposes, disaster relief and schoolbooks. Annual Christmas Grants were also given. At the end of 2022 the fund held its first (1st) Children%u2019s Christmas Party which catered for fifty (50) underprivileged children from the Princess Town community. At this function, twenty-three (23) families were given Christmas hampers. There was lots of joy and laughter as Trustees led by Sharon Christopher, (Chair) took the responsibility of making sure that everyone had a great time. It is hoped that this Children%u2019s Christmas Party will become an annual affair to be held in various communities. The GNCF has recently appointed a new Board of Trustees that has developed a strategic plan for the revitalization of the role, scope, reach and most importantly, impact of GNCF, in the local philanthropic landscape.Notwithstanding the long history of assistance provided to hundreds of persons in need directly or indirectly, the Board is of the view that there is an opportunity for the GNCF to improve its delivery capability through the adoption of new strategies, initiatives and thinking around how GNCF can better help those in need. The Board is now in the process of implementing this strategy. The Board of Trustees would like to thank each donor for making sure that the Guardian Neediest Cases Fund continues to be %u2018The Friend in Need.%u2019CORPORTATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
